A Bus Driver’s “Life”
I have to tell you about our driver, Eli Mast. Here is how his day went yesterday:
10 a.m. Drop off the HTV group in Manhattan
11:45 p.m. Take the HTV group back to its hotel in Paramus, NJ
In between? Kill almost 14 hours in the bus, waiting for us to finish our day. You can’t give up a parking spot for a tour bus in the Times Square area, so it’s sit-and-wait for guys like Eli. His 27 years as an over-the-road truck driver certainly prepared him for the great work he has done the last five years behind the wheel of a tour bus.
So thanks, Eli, for keeping watch over the awesome White Knight Coach we are enjoying on this big adventure, and for going above and beyond. The kids think you’re the best. So do the rest of us. And nobody handles a hairpin turn into ridiculous, impatient New York City traffic the way you do.
So now, about what time can you get us into D.C. this evening?
